Rudy Giuliani ended his campaign for the Republican nomination for President today following his defeat in the Florida primary. Now it is time to examine the failed prediction in my dairy entry Rudy Giuliani posted on August 20, 2007.

When attempting long-range predictions it is always better to make it conditional on the resolution of negative combinations. I found the strong stationary transit of Jupiter in April-May of 2008 at the end of the primary season as the likely correspondence for winning the nomination but badly underestimated the stationary Saturn squaring the natal SUN-0-URANUS that was active for 3 months from November 2007.

I wrote: Giuliani will be facing difficulties when SATURN stations squaring URANUS in December 2007 and slowly move backwards to square the natal SUN in January 2008 when the early primaries take place.

The "difficulties" proved to be far more serious that it resulted in the end of the Giuliani campaign. Transiting Saturn exactly squared natal SUN on November 11,2007 and moved towards a station squaring natal Uranus. Transiting SUN exactly opposed natal SUN on November 29,2007 triggering this Saturn station and newspaper reports surfaced on that day saying Rudy Giuliani billed obscure city agencies for tens of thousands of dollars in security expenses amassed during the time when he was beginning an extramarital relationship with future wife Judith Nathan. These reports were later found inaccurate but the damage was done. Giuliani's national poll numbers began to sink in the following weeks and he lost all primaries in January 2008.

I wrote: But SATURN would have passed the square to SUN(regardless of when he was born on his birth day) by February 05,2008 when the Super Tuesday primaries take place.

This was a serious error in judgement. I wrote that after examining certain natal positions for Giuliani's main rivals McCain and Romney. John McCain has natal SUN at 06 Virgo 02. Mitt Romney has natal Mars at 06 Pisces 14. So transiting Saturn will be applying a conjunction/opposition to these positions on February 5,2008. But it doesn't necessarily follow that this should help Giuliani because his rivals have worse transits. He himself is in a weak position following 3-month long Saturn transit and I should not have concluded that he would come out of Feb05 primaries with advantage.

When Giuliani was experiencing the Saturn station squaring his SU -0- UR, John McCain had transiting Uranus station squaring his natal Jupiter.This "Fortunate turns in life" combination resurrected his campaign in December 2007. His natal declinations of Jupiter,Pluto and Node are in 22-23 degree range and so transiting SUN will activate this JU/PL/NO combination for about 2-3 weeks before and after the summer and winter solstices. When I wrote the diary entry I was not aware of the exact dates of early primaries and this year the New Hampshire primary took place earlier than usual on January 08 when transiting Sun was parallel to natal Jupiter of McCain.The campaign of McCain was in serious trouble when I wrote the diary entry and the transiting Saturn conjunct his natal Sun on Super-Tuesday made me overlook the implications of the Uranus station in Nov-Dec 2007. The SA -0- SU transit is active only for 3 weeks for McCain and it is likely to correspond to some losses in the primaries and delay in clinching the nomination.

I wrote:

The following JUPITER and JU/PL transits(ONE degree orb) should help him in the primaries:

t. JUPITER -135--- n. JUPITER (Jan 05 - Jan 14)

t. JUPITER -180--- n. SU/PL (Jan 15 - Jan 22)

Giuliani adopted an unconventional strategy by skipping early state primaries to concentrate his efforts in Florida[natal SU -0- UR ]. These Jupiter transits helped him in a strange way that three early states were won by three different candidates preventing any strong momentum for any of them. But they were unable to overcome the strong Saturn station and also Neptune station opposing natal Jupiter.

The Jupiter station in April-May and other success combinations active for 2008-2009 may now be resolved depending on the circumstances.

Hillary Clinton is also going to have a Saturn station contraparallel to her natal Sun in April-May of this year. She will have t.Sun -180- n. Ma/Sa on February 5 and t. Ma/Sa -90- n. Sun on March 4 when important primaries take place. Transiting Pluto station semisquaring natal Su/Ju may help her succeed but if the Democratic nomination is not settled by April, transiting Jupiter station contacting Obama's natal Pluto in April and May may enable him to win the nomination in view of Clinton's Saturn transit.
