Mihira, thanks for posting this analysis. We learn more from our mistakes than from our successes. I have found it very difficult to make tactical political predictions because politics is not a lonely art: many people are involved, and they interact in different ways - as supporters, as opponents, as opponents' opponents, and so forth. When I tried - and failed - to predict the outcome of the 1995 Quebec independence referendum for a local newspaper, I was using maps of about thirty entities: the country, the leaders of the federal and provincial parties, various relationship maps. One tries to simplify and reduce the number of maps to examine, of course, but that has its shortcomings. Predictions of political results on the ground are not for the faint-hearted!
