Neatness in Nature
|
|
By Ray Murphy, Section News Posted on Thu Jun 6th, 2002 at 17:17:46 EDT

According to the Old Testament, there's "Nothing new under the Sun" so presumably the answer to this question can be found in a library book somewhere; but does anyone know of a list of some of the incredibly neat and precise mathematical ways that Nature works and if they could have some relevance to astrology?
The academics amongst us probably take some of the mathematical rules (or Laws) of Nature for granted but can we find answers about astrology by looking at them - or searching for more of them to use?

Proving astrology in the interim

Those of us who are interested in probability statistics - (even in an amateurish way like myself) are frequently exposed to criticism of our art by educated skeptics who claim that much of what we think we see in astrology is actually an illusion. In simple terms they say we are kidding ourselves.
Now I'm sure that this does happen at times - especially with the more gullible of us; but why do we retain our strong confidence?

Interesting coincidences in astrology
|
|

We could all kick ourselves sometimes for not thinking of some simple idea or invention which as staring us in the face.
Well this is one of them:
A thread on the Urania site for reporting unusual coincidences observed while doing astrology.
The neat thing about this thread is we don't have to embarrass ourselves by putting forward some "astrological claim" which doesn't hold water - but merely place on the public record some unusual observations which may tie-in with others' observations.

Assassinations

The recent assassination of the Dutch politician, Pim Fortuyn on 6th. May, 2002 reminded me of my concern during an astrology meeting in May, 1991 where I suggested that there was a high probability of a World Leader being assassinated in July 1991 "Because of the biggest eclipse of the century occurring at the same time as one of the common factors for assassinations" These "common factors" were Venus or Mars at the 29 LE/AQ axis (+/- 5 deg) or conjunctions of VE + MA at any degree.

Urania.info - Online Astrology Journal and Web Log
|

Welcome!
Urania.info is a place where astrologers and students of all
stripes and inclinations can write and read articles, keep a public diary, and participate in high-signal discussions on material published on and (sometimes) off this site. All articles published here are there because our members put them there. A member submits an article, the urania.info community votes on it, and a topical discussion then takes place.
We feel the splintering of the online astrological community into dozens of special interest mailing lists and newsgroups has created an intolerable level of noise with little cross-fertilization of ideas between schools. We'd like to change that by creating a place on the web where all ideas commingle in a kind of astrological bazaar. Normally, one would have to subscribe to a dozen mailing lists to cover as much ground as we hope to at urania.info
