During that May meeting Harry B. asked me what status of person would be most likely to be assassinated if anything occurred. I said "I don't know - but someone pretty BIG" - and I mentioned a few names (which I will omit here).
I had my eye on "about 14th July" because there was a conjunction of VE + MA on that axis on that date - with the eclipse occurring on the 11th July.
Some time later I was cajoled into writing something about it for our astrology branch newsletter, and finally I got a phone call from our editor Irene, who was urgently looking for my small contribution because she wanted to print that evening. She didn't care that my "cause for concern" had passed without incident -- in fact she was happy. All she cared about at that moment was getting something to fill up the blank space in the newsletter.
I assured her that I was just typing the last paragraph on the IBM typewriter but wanted to add one more sentence because of incoming radio news.
I typed the last paragraph and then added ....
"At the time of writing (Mon 19th August) I cannot but wonder if the events announced in Russia a few hours ago where the President, Mikhail Gorbachev has been ousted by a coup of some sort, connects with the article above. After all Venus today is at 01.35 Virgo".
The main crisis was over. The 12 page newsletter went out on time, and then we (and the rest of the world) waited anxiously to see what would happen in the Soviet Union.
In the following days things unfolded in the USSR and fortunately Gorbachev was only "politically assassinated" rather than being physically assassinated.
Any astrologer with a good imagination could see a connection between my 14th July "prediction of potential" and 19th August, because those things don't all happen on one day. In fact we may still be able to find out (now that the dust has settled) if the major thrust to eliminate Mikhail Gorbachev began a month earlier.
In any case, one of the factors ~was~ actually present - even though my "window for accuracy" was rather wide.(Venus or Mars within orb from 9th July until 14th October).

* It would appear that Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (LENIN) who died on 21st Jan, 1921 died of natural causes, but I cannot help but wonder when I see the list of assassinations above, and the position of VE at his death. Although Lenin started Communism in Russia, he was nevertheless quite critical of corruption and incompetence in the Communist party.

He died of food poisoning, but I wonder (in view of the position of MA if something was being aimed at the President).

So when I had a quick look yesterday at the recent assassination of the Dutch politician I wondered if I would find a conjunction of VE + MA at any degree - or VE or MA on the 29 LE/AQ axis I was not surprised.
There may have been other assassinations (or attempts) during the last decade which fit with the above pattern, but I haven't looked.
All of this was done before I used computer research programs, so there might be more to be found. It's possible also that it's just a heap of speculation - but on the surface it DOES look interesting.
