In November 2004 there will be a glut of 5th-harmonic aspects. What might it mean?

  Post Comment

The logjam of 5th-harmonic contacts which will occur next November might be called a "Keplerian storm", because it was Johann Kepler who most famously studied these aspects. What will we see in the sky? The prevalence of 5th and 10th harmonics will last from 1 to 25 November but, to choose a good example, on 5 November 2004 UT Noon there are the following:

Mercury quintile Neptune; Venus quintile Saturn, biquintile Uranus, and quintile Pluto; Jupiter quintile Saturn, biquintile Uranus, and quintile Pluto; Saturn biquintile Uranus and biquintile Pluto; Uranus quintile Pluto. All will be within 42' orb or less.

Excluding Mercury and Neptune, these aspects involve a closed pattern or chain. Consequently there are associated midpoints at the same moment (with orbs in arcminutes): VE=SA/PL (3); SA=UR/PL (33); UR=VE/SA (19) and =JP/SA (6); PL=VE/UR (18) and =JP/UR (5).

While the midpoint contacts are calculated with the usual hard aspects (the "=" in this case means either a conjunction or an opposition with a near midpoint), the interpretation has to be influenced by the 5th-harmonic pattern. I have always taken such aspects to denote "imagination about" whatever the involved planets stood for. In mundane astrology, therefore, the pattern need not denote a real external event; the corresponding phenomenon might be something going on in the public imagination. Still, the pithy sayings of magus Germanicus - I mean Reinhold Ebertin - are a good place to start. The midpoints tell us of alienation, separation, an illegitimate relationship, a change of occupation, a sudden change in financial circumstances. Especially interesting is UR=JP/SA: "Damage to a building, a stoppage of motors..." Since this will be happening in the context of a US presidential election, might it be that the outcome will be influenced by the public imagining that a building has been attacked again, or that some vital machinery has been sabotaged, or (PL=JP/UR) that the economy is teetering on the edge of a cliff? In other words, might it mean that the election will be influenced by a successful game plan encompassing terror alerts and rumours of chaos?

This is undoubtedly my sunny disposition holding sway, but I can't help but note that Kerry's MC forms 5th harmonic aspects to both his Sun and his Moon while Bush's chart predictably lacks these creative aspects. Perhaps this astro-weather is predicting a winner?

The UR=JU/SA is especially interesting. While it can certainly have explosive implications for buildings, it can also indicate (according to Ebertin) change of residence or occupation. Transiting Uranus at that time exactly opposes Richard Cheney's Ascendant.

Bonjour Axel,
