Does the planet Venus incubate viral lifeforms? This website explores the possible connection between outbreaks of virulent respiratory diseases and inferior conjunctions of the planet Venus, such as is coming 8 June 2004.

The gist of the argument goes like this:
- Venus has no appreciable magnetic field
- ergo the solar wind strikes its atmosphere directly
- this explains the presence of a cometary tail trailing out behind Venus
- when Venus is aligned with Sun and Earth, the solar wind can transfer material from Venus to Earth in a matter of 4-6 hours
- life can exist on Venus in its upper atmosphere, where there is some water vapour and where temperatures are below 180F, but this would be viral or microbial life
- conditions on Venus in the upper atmosphere are no more dire than what is to be found on Earth near thermal vents, hot springs, geysers and other extreme niches
The word influenza derives from Italian and means "influence" and stems from the mediaeval belief that epidemics were connected with planetary conjunctions. Evil vapours flowed in to our planet from space at these times. Research has revealed a link between inferior conjunctions of Venus and outbreaks of new diseases in the weeks and months following. These diseases are of an airborne respiratory nature. Influenza itself is chief among them. The great plague of 1918 appeared in many places at once and then subsequently spread by person-to-person contact. SARS appeared just 6 weeks after a conjunction. Pneumonias of various kinds are also in this family. These viruses need hot moist environments (lungs) and travel well in exposed atmosphere.
