AstrologyNotesWiki!

I'm very excited to see an implementation of the wiki concept to astrology in the AstroNotes wiki!
At first glance this is a superb implmentation, and could go a long way towards an 'open source' astrology. I spoke to Axel about the need for something like it nearly two years ago but we only played with it and didn't get very far due to my personal circumstances.
The reason we started this website was to bring astrologers of all stripes to collaborate and openly exchange ideas. To me personally, it was an outgrowth of my interest in open-source as a movement away from the proprietary.
More of my thoughts on this later. For now, I would encourage anyone to check this out!

After two years running the site on an old computer that kept crashing every week, Axel and I decided to move the site to a hosting company where the site can be up and stay up. We moved the site on April 1, but it hasn't been smooth.

It's early morning here in Montreal and half-time of the France vs Senegal match in the World Cup, but I thought you should all be aware that google now has an index of urania.info up to May 5, 2002. We return a few number 1 results for certain search terms....

It couldn't have happened at a worse time - a database problem occured at some point late yesterday afternoon and I could do nothing about it until today. Sunday is usually a quiet day, but I see this past Sunday was anything but quiet and may have been one of our busiest yet.

Job Interview
|
|
By johnnyc, Section Diaries Posted on Fri May 17th, 2002 at 13:23:37 EDT
|
On 9-11-2001 I woke up knowing 2 things:
- At the end of the day I would be unemployed and owed 2 weeks wages like the rest of my colleagues at flipr
- The WTC tragedy would mean the insane foreign policy of our neighbours down south would get a lot scarier.
I've been unemployed since that day, looking for work but discouraged by the sheer numbers of positions available for Windows techs and sysadmins. Seems people don't want a solution to their problems, they want to spend their money creating more problems by using that operating system:-)
Finally, I have a chance at a very good position in a company dedicated to solving problems and not creating them. I have an interview at 15:00 today.

The Astrological Diary
|

It's a sunny Saturday morning here in Montreal, and I'm just settling down to my cup of coffee and reading the latest comments, catching up on the last 9 hours of email from the various lists I'm subscribed to. I've been wanting to sit down and write a real diary entry, an entry for my astrological diary at urania.info. There's nothing quite like having a place to call my own where I can keep a diary and discuss astrology. That's my diary. While I insist the rest of this site belongs to you, this place is mine.
So far, I've used my diary here to discuss elements of the site, provide help for new members, and in one instance provide data. Now begins the real diary.

Dagestan "Victory Day" bomb data

Just so it's easier for me next time, I'm writing a quick entry to provide links to the news on the bombing in the Russion republic of Dagestan. You can read a CNN report which provides an approximate time for the explosion, with more in-depth reporting at the BBC. CNN says the "...blast occurred shortly before 10 a.m. (1 a.m. EDT) as a military band was passing through a square in the city of Makhachkala.".
You can read the chart for the explosion here. Included below is the data.

I posted Axel's article to the Front Page at 3:22 AM EDT in Montreal. The chart can be found at urania's bio page. Interesting to say the least. Sun in Taurus, Moon in Scorpio, and Aquarius rising with Uranus conjunct the AS and Pluto conjunct MC in Sag. This is, I think, a very appropriate chart.
